Snowboarding...

Today I tried something new. I was one of the few people left in Utah who live here and had never been snowboarding... well my friend Aaron convinced me to go today cause he had a 2 for 1 pass and it was definitely an interesting experience. I am actually really struggling to type this because my wrists hurt so bad. Yes, I fell probably more than anyone you have ever seen! So the day began with not taking the right road to Snowbird (which is where we were going) and ended up at Brighton (which is on the opposite side of the mountain). The fog was incredible and it took us just a really long time to get there because people in Utah are scared to drive in the fog. And in the snow. And in the rain. My first observation... people who ski or snowboard think they are awesome! They are all so super cocky and walk around like they own the place, even the little kids! Maybe it's because of the boots, but still, very confident people hang out on the mountain. Aaron was super amazing all day and really helped me so much! He buckled me up to the board every time, pulled me up the hill when I didn't get enough speed, helped me stand up every time time... that's really really hard to do! And he even bought me dinner at Red Robin... Onion rings included! I had so many people ask me if this was a first date, and if it was to definitely ask for a second. Aaron really was amazing and so patient with me since he is super experienced. So my first ride on the lift (scary) we sat with these two guys who told me about how they each knew multiple girls who had to get airlifted out because of injuries on their first time to the mountain. So that was uplifting and a great thing to hear as I was clinging to the arm rest of the lift for dear life! The lift straight up scares me! It is very hard for me to get off and I didn't want to be the reason that they had to stop the entire lift. So first time down the mountain, not awesome. It took us FOREVER to get down! Sorry Aaron! It was not good. My poor ankles, wrists, butt, and neck. Snowboarders do not get enough credit! It is really really hard. Oh and did I mention how I got the wind knocked out of me 3 times. I don't think you're suppose to fall on your chest like I did. I'm sure it was entertaining for someone. So when we finally made it down I told Aaron to go by himself so he felt as though his time wasn't completely wasted. I got to people watch and that was pretty awesome! So we decided to go up again, and by this time I was pretty tired and really cold. Plus it was so stinking foggy you couldn't see like 20 feet in front of you half the time. It cleared up really nice... when we were leaving of course. I did a thousand times better on round two! I was really surprised! But the problem with going faster and harder, is that you fall faster and harder. My poor bruised tailbone, my left wrist, and the headache that not even 10 pain relievers can get rid of! I am going to need to be adjusted on Monday for sure. I learned that I would rather fall on powder than packed snow. Especially when I'm cruising and I land on the packed snow on my tailbone. So hard! So painful! Overall it was a good day and I'm really glad that I went. I think that back in the day there might have been a time when I would have said no because I was scared of looking stupid in front of other people, but I have totally changed the way I think when it comes to that and I'm so glad that I have! By the end of the day I had no problem wiping out and just laying on my back in the middle of the trial. People were probably pretty annoyed with me, but I really needed the rest. The last time I remember feel this physically exhausted and weak was rock climbing at City of Rocks back in like 2006. So it's about time right?Anyway I would highly recommend at least trying it out...I might not say that in the morning when I can't move, but it was a good day! Thanks Aaron! Oh and please notice the show off in one of the videos below who does a super cool roll right in front of me. Isn't he just awesome? Haha.

Not For the Weak of Stomach....

All this week I have been ridiculously sick. Haven't been able to keep much down, except for salsa, some crackers, and 7up. That's not much fun for me because I love to eat. I miss eating! Loving the way my jeans fit right now though... Anyway, it wasn't the best week for me to be sick. I had my cheer Christmas party at Red Robin, which was definitely interesting. Seriously can you spot the almost 25 year old among the high school students? I look like I'm one of them... totally blend in! I finished up all my finals, watched the entire season 4 of Boy Meets World cause it came in the mail on Monday... Love me some Cory Matthews! I took some more pictures of the Christmas at my house... even though this year I'm definitely not feeling Christmas... at all. Jason flew in from the army for Christmas and I made my first poster for someone at the airport and it was pretty fun! Then Friday Kim, Chris, Cortney, Jason, and I drove to Idaho for a couple days just to get him home. We walked into the house with Jake dressed like this..... A couple years ago when we had our bunny Little Bo I decided to wake Jake up by putting Bo on his bed, it didn't work well cause Bo scared Jake and he threw him up against the wall... basically that's why we don't have Little Bo anymore. Just kidding, Bo didn't die, luckily. Anyway that's why Jason thought it would be funny to wake Jake up with Hans. I set a bad example. Anyway it ended up ripping one of Hans's nails off. Bunnies bleed a lot when that happens! Then I noticed that my Mom's nativity scene was missing a lot of characters. I guess there was an accident so now for our Christmas story Mary is having an affair with the Shepard boy and Jesus is there. That's awkward but that's the story I got. Dad recently got his masters from Eastern Kentucky University (congrats Dad! Thanks for setting such a great example!) So we're all pretty proud of him! I rediscovered Captain Comic, a game I spent hours trying to pass when I was like 10, and beat it after 4 tries. So much fun! Yes, I understand that's a little nerdy. I gave Miss Cortney a white trash pony tail and we saw this awesome sticker on the drive up! So then we drove home and the weather was crap. But I finally took a picture by this dinosaur, which I have always wanted to do! But what made it worse is that Cortney threw up not just once, but multiple times! Projectile vomiting is more like it. Seriously it shot up to the front seat. Well, since the roads were so bad we were going like 50 mph at the fastest and she did the throw up thing the second time in the middle of nowhere and it took us about 25 miles to get to the next gas station. So for 25 miles we sat in the pukey car, luckily I had this Victoria Secret spray in my car to kind of cover up the smell, but then Cortney, like a dog, started to eat her vomit. She was pretty picky about what chunks she ate. We were laughing, but all trying to hard not to throw up. We were at the gas station for like a half an hour cleaning up, and because I'm the best aunt ever, I took pictures. Cortney will love this when she gets older I'm sure, we can be even then for her smiling about throwing up all over my car. Really, who smiles like that while they're sitting in vomit? Spending the next 125 miles in the vomit car was not awesome. But I have definitely never done that before. So today the car still smells and no matter what I do I can't get rid of the smell.... here's to driving with the windows down in December! I still smell it everywhere I go!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON!

Check out the change over the years...... Anyway...
He's legal!!! Jason turns 21 today and that's pretty awesome. I wish he could be here to celebrate, but I only have to wait 2 more days and then I get to see him. Jason is a stellar person... If you read my post last month about him you know I think pretty highly of him! I'm very grateful for Jason and his unselfish manner. He is an amazing man who is always working harder to achieve greatness. Happy birthday little brother! I love you! Mom and Dad should feel old... they now have 3 kid over 21... that's over half!

Really?

Really.....

Did I have 4 basketball games that I went to this week and practice 3 times before work? (One game included an almost fight... not only in the gym but also in the parking lot afterwards... pretty intense. Wonderful high school hormones. And someone needs to tell the students at Alta High School that mullets, fake mustaches and short shorts are not attractive)
Did I have finals for my 14 credits at BYU Idaho this week?

Did I go to the gym every morning at 5:30am? (Definitely threw up Tuesday morning cause of my crazy blood sugar)

Did I work everyday at the Chiropractor's office?

Did I start an insane diet that includes egg whites and more fiber and protein than I have ever eaten in my life?

Did I have a cheerleading competition on Saturday? (Oh and we definitely took 1st!!!)

Did I find a cheerleading banner for 1st place back in the day in the gym with a major misspelling? (definitely furthers the stereotype of cheerleaders)
Did I have the worst blind date ever Saturday night? (This included intense stretching before the game of bowling... so ready to find "the one" already)

Oh yeah... I definitely did. So glad this week is over and that somehow I managed to find time to go to dinner with an awesome friend Friday night for a break and yell out the window at random people on the streets in several languages with 3 of my JV cheerleaders... yes it sounds lame I know but we had so much fun!!! Bring on Christmas break! Please excuse my pale excuse for a face... I need to go tanning or something. Way to white! Things I'm looking forward to next week...

Basketball and Baptism

What a crazy week! I feel like I haven't had time to breathe! I feel so lucky that I was able to find time to go to lunch and a movie with a friend. Which by the way if you do go to Jordan Commons and go to the movies, make sure you aren't there super early or this guy with really squeaky shoes and only top braces will try to become your best friend. Consider yourself warned. Basketball season started this week. It was a super rough game but I went to practice the next day with ideas for change and the girls accepted them, so hopefully our 3 games next week will be much better! I'm pretty sure that these girls are capable of amazing things! My family came down this weekend for my cousin Logan's baptism. She asked me to give a talk which made me feel super old, but it went well... besides the crazy amount of shaking that happened. It was a little awkward standing in front of a large group talking about not making mistakes while my wonderful tattoo was on display for everyone there. Oh well. Logan is so much fun to be around and she's growing up so fast! She is awesome and I am so glad that I was able to be part of her special day. Made me feel pretty special that she would ask me to play such an important role. Please excuse my massive excuse for a hand... We discovered about halfway during the open house that Jake had a fabulous hole in his pants. It was amazing! He has also become obsessed with bow ties and whatever you call that kind of hat. At least he can pull it off... Only 2 weeks of school left thank goodness! I am so tired and I need a break! Oh and can someone please give me the power to read minds... just for like an hour would even be wonderful! I cannot figure out boys. Obviously right... I'm still single. Oh well...
